A New Hope For Pollinators

Our Mission

The Rebel Butterfly Gardener’s mission is to create pollinator friendly spaces on public land. Many spaces already exist on municipal land that are empty lawns. It is our belief that these sites should instead be converted into viable insect habitat that is also a source of beauty and inspiration for all of us who pass them everyday. To be a Rebel is to chose to fight in all the little ways we can. We chose to use the things we love in our fandom worlds to create a better world for everyone. World Building, Magic, and the Fight for Good.

The Time Is Now

World Building

Each fandom we love is built in its own world and even its own universe. World building IRL (In Real Life) encompasses all of the Rebel’s planting and habitat building. Wherever possible we would like to create new gardens and meadow habitats where adults and children can enjoy encounters with nature.

Magic

The experience of magic brings beauty, joy, and hope. It sustains us during times of stress. It delights us and helps us to feel connected to others. Through world building and fandom themed events, Rebels help foster magical experiences for children and adults. Each year our annual Monarch release is an opportunity for individuals to hold monarchs and connect with nature again.

The Fight For Good

The worlds of our fandoms make it easier to see the good guys and the bad guys. Out in the real world it is not so easy. As Rebels we do our best to work with and support other organizations that fight for good causes. Through a mechanism we call cross pollination, we often collaborate with other organizations to bring as much as good as possible into the world.

How Do We Do It?

In The Rise of Skywalker there is a scene during the last battle where all hope is just about lost. Suddenly people show up from all over the galaxy with smaller ships to support the rebel fighters. An officer on one of the destroyers says, “Where did they get all these fighter craft, they have no navy.” The man next to him says, “It’s not a navy sir it’s just people.”

That is how we do it. A Rebel Leader coordinates but the projects get done because people like you show up. Working for only 2 or 3 hours a year, rebels answer the call. Collectively we are able to accomplish amazing things!
